Around the Island
The volcanic island of Santorini attracts with its energy and mystery. A biblical explosion thousands of years ago on the Aegean Sea created the biggest Caldera in the world now offering an amazingly beautiful scenery with the most spectacular views on earth and a great variety of activities. A cruise to the volcano is on top of the experiences in Santorini. There are private cruises that leave from Vlychada Port, they sail near the Red and White Beach, turn inside the Caldera, stop by the Volcano; passengers can swim at the Hot Springs and have a delicious barbeque meal on board with sea food, meat, vegetables, salads and pasta. There is a morning cruise from 10:00-15:00 or an evening one from 15:00-20:00. A unique experience is a cruise with a high speed boat to the nearby islands of Ios and Koufonisia. The cruise can last from 5 hours to a whole day trip according to the guests will. There are many wineries to visit, have a tour inside and wine tasting as well. The capital of the island Fira offers a variety of shops with local and designers items, different restaurants and the Archaeological Museum of Akrotiri to visit, as well as the Orthodox Metropolis. The black sand beach is a place one needs to experience while on the island. Mystique offers complimentary use of its private beach facilities in Perivolos. Access is very easy by car or taxi and the distance is approximately 25 minutes driving. The Ancient City of Thira is open from 10:00-14:00. The ruins of the City transfer you thousands of years back in time, before the big eruption of the Volcano that destroyed half of the island. Horseback riding on the beach during sunset is a unique romantic experience. The village of Pyrgos, on the highest point of the island with the monastery of Prophet Elias offers spectacular views all around the island. In the centre of the traditional village of Megalochori, one of the oldest villages on the island, visitors can explore the traditional architecture of Santorini. Also, in Megalochori, our sister property Vedema Resort which is built around a 400 year old winery with volcanic stones, features the Vinsanto Restaurant, a medieval venue in the old winery where you can enjoy gourmet Greek contemporary dishes under the mystical lights of candles. A private car tour can also be booked to show you around the island to visit the most important sites. Best for last, Mystique offers the most amazing romantic view to the sunset colors. What makes it more attractive is the privacy, since no visitors are allowed in the hotel. A private dinner with a special menu can also be arranged in the Secret Wine Cave in a romantic atmosphere made of red roses and candles.
